Sara Wichman-Fuller: teacher, journalist, free-lance writer, and communications
consultant, will teach you what is news, how to write press releases, when
to present stories and how to follow up.

THE VIDEO CONNECTION: CARE & FEEDING
B.J. Doty, West Linn Public Librarian and member
of the Oregon Cooperative Video Acquisition Project, will cover selection,
development, and care of a videocassette collection.

THE CHALLENGE OF YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMMING IN THE PUBLIC
LIBRARY
Naomi Angier, YA Specialist for Multnomah County Library,
will discuss YA programs, book review groups, usage of YA paperbacks, and
school visits.

AUTHOR: PHILLIP MARGOLIN
Mr. Margolin, a Portland criminal defense
attorney and accomplished author, will share how he gets ideas, turns them
into a book, and what happens after it is accepted for publication. His
books include Heartstone (nominated for the Edgar Award for best original
paperback mystery) and The Last Innocent Man, which was made into
a 1987 HBO movie.

Sue Waddell from the West Linn Public Library and Terri
Towery, Management Analyst for the West Linn Fire Department, will focus
on how to make a good impression for your library by using proper telephone
skills.

THE FRIEND'S PORTFOLIO: AN INVESTMENT IN TIME
Anne Carter, President of the University of Oregon Friends
and past President of Oregon Library Association's Trustees and Friends Section,
will discuss how to conduct a Friends business meeting and how to develop
good relations between library staff and library board members.

LIBRARY
A four-member panel from the Oregon State Library including
John Webb will demonstrate and give vital information on reference and
information services available at OSL.

system for schools and small public libraries, including its new online

Steve Stephensen, Corvallis-Benton Public Librarian, will give practical
